Our dear friend Allen Gravelle passed away on September 30, 2014.
Allen was a founding member of the Ottawa Citroën Club in the year 2000, and was a life-long Citroën enthusiast. He owned and drove the cars during their heyday in the North American market, and retained his last Citroën DS-21 until (and even after) he stopped driving.
Allen was well known in the North American Citroën community, and was a loyal attendee at the now-famous Northfield meets in Massachusetts. That gathering later evolved into the Citroën Rendezvous still organized each year by DriveSheSaid. Allen also attended several ICCCR world gatherings, including the 2002 event at Amhearst in the USA.
Allen’s wealth of knowledge of the marque and the history of the community was appreciated by all. His large physical presence and his huge personality already have been missed by his friends and fellow Citroënists during the years of his illness. But now we say “Adieu Allen, may the road be smooth and may your spheres never leak”.
We extend our sympathies to Carolyn Edey and the entire Gravelle family.
Note to Ottawa members:
A memorial will be held for Allen starting at 2 pm on Friday October 24, at Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank Street, south of Leitrim Road in Ottawa Canada. If you remember Allen, please attend and if possible, bring your Citroën so we can send him off in style.
